I come back to comment and I got to say, this should be called Against the Humph! Supreme, sheesh so many Hmphs, it is like they all have sinuses

Anyway spoiler time
Most of the characters you see fighting for the top 10 will become Tan Yun's friends with the exception of those who are in the Beast, 5 Element division and a couple more. They become friends after Tan Yun saves them during the Forbidden Area trials (the Arts competition we saw months ago was prelude to this trial. During the trial a lot of sect members die, get maimed or female students get raped, only the Pill Division manages to suffer minimal losses. Tan Yun saves other division students but makes it clear that no one is to to help those in the Beast and a couple of division otherwise he will not help them.

It is through this that these students starts to become loyal to Tan Yun, the other division suffer massive losses, while the Pill division stays mainly intact, in the second trial which is many years later, the same thing happens which causes a change within the sect (loss of students means loss of power and strength for the division)


Another thing to note is that, while these students seem powerful and arrogant, in frot of the other two sects they are nothing but weaklings

In all honesty, there is at least some sect members who seem willing to reason when the time comes. I'm guessing that she and her senior brother will become one of Tan Yun's future friends.

their division have no beef with tan yun, so there's no reason for them to try and kill tan yun..

probably the longest filler episode series in any kind of animation, even if its not a filler, i dont think that this took this long in the original novel. makes also no sense that the same sect are decimating eachother, before a bigger fight against foreign hostile sects

Its pretty much exactly how it went in the novel. Although there was more information and thoughts and even telepathy communications going on that they don't show here...so the understanding of the complexities of everything that is happening is not being shown. There are lots of different powerful forces working behind the scenes and that was more apparent in the novel.
